Hello,
I am having trouble with my Internet explorer. It is doing some very odd things.Sometimes it will completely close the page i am visiting for no reason or it will be very slow loading pages and when i say slow i mean very very very slow for eg i tried to google something and after 10 minutes of the page trying to load i gave up.I thought that it was perhaps the topic i was searching so i tried putting in random things to see if that made any difference but it didn't.Another problem i had was when i was on a forum and clicked on a link and nothing happened i tried to open a new tab and that wouldn't work either and it would let me access any options that are in my tools menu.i had to restart my computer.Just to let you know i have high speed Internet connection. Thanks in advance to anyone that helps me with this problem.

First off have you run a virus or spyware scan lately?
If not you could have a virus or a browser hijacker...
If thats not the case, the I would recommend running CCleaner and clean out any junk that can pile up with windows.

Overall IE stinks, go download firefox.

here are a couple links to some good software: Ad-Aware by lavasoft, Spybot Search and destroy,Clamwin anti virus.

Google chrome is also a nice browser.

I have seen these issues many times with the internet explorer browser. Which is why the first thing you should do is download a third party browser like firefox, or chrome.

If you don't have anti-virus and wish to do a scan, trend micro has a free online scanner called house-call. you can find it here http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

CCleaner is a good program, however you do want to be careful that you don't remove anything important. Or disable critical start-up programs. But very useful when trying to remove trojan horses, ect.. that load during bootup.

Another thing you should try is to run windows in safe mode w/ networking. To do this reboot your computer and mash on the F8 key until a bunch of options pop up, select "load safe mode with networking".
this will run only the core dll files needed, preventing viruses ect from loading.

Once you are in safe mode, go ahead and load up Internet Explorer. try and create the same problem.. if it does not have the same result then it most likely a virus or some protection program preventing IE from working properly. If it does result in the same problem; you should backup your important data (documents, tax forms, ect..) and look into a wipe of the hard drive and re-installing windows.

If the problem doesn't occur in safe mode, go and download a 3rd party browser like firefox.. and use that instead. run house-call or download some of the programs that josiah had mentioned to try and combat whatever has infected your system. (if anything) again could just be a protection program keeping your notebook off the "internet" (like parental control software, etc.)

I hope you find this helpful,
DJ

I think the link you were clicked in to the forum may be that link was virus and after opening that link virus was installed on your computer so first proper scan your computer with latest antivirus or after that reinstall your web browser.
recover data

you may have malware attached and try cleaning your browser with ad-aware.

google chrome is not that nice after all that I am using. It eats up huge memory and stacks it. I am now switching to firefox again since its a stable browser compared to chrome and IE.

It's amazing to see how much technology has changed and improved over the years. Does anyone use Internet Explorer anymore after Chrome and Mozilla took over the industry?Haha this is pretty amazing

So true. I don't remember the last time I used Internet Explorer. Although, I hear that it's not that bad nowadays.
