i have a very serious problem,i found freehostia server to be the best amongst all other, but even here i got a problem.I am unable to send mails,I have tried both the PHP mail function and sendmail.

First,I thought that the problem may be due to the script that I am using, but it is not so,I have installed Joomla script and users creating account on my site do not receive any activation mail, neither I am able to send them any mail through the mail servers provided.

As I am using chocolate plan,I cant use SMTP,so please help me and tell me how can i fix it,I am very frustrated now, I have done what all i could, now hoping that you will help! :(

You are currently using our Free hosting plan, which does not allow you to send emails (SMTP is disabled). Any scripts that send emails will not work as either. Our paid hosting plans do not have this restriction. You can upgrade your web hosting plan from the "Change plan" section on your control panel, you will find the link on the left "Upgrades" menu.

Upgrading to a paid hosting plan would also remove the 500KB file size limit, which the Free plan has, so you will be able to upload larger files.

If you have any further questions or problems, please do not hesitate to contact us!

But only SMTP is disabled, the PHP mail function and sendmail servers should work, are they also disabled in free plan?

Unfortunately they are. We cannot afford to allow spammers to register for free and to flow the world with spam emails using our mail server.

I understand that you're worried about the spammers, but if I JUST upgrade my email, willl that allow me to send emails out?

Yes, you'll be able to send emails if you upgrade your account to any of our paid plans.

That's a good point and I understand why you're charging for it now. I'm going to upgrade now because I think it's worth it.

Thanks.

Hello marryanne,

Please open a trouble ticket regarding this issue. Then we will be able to assist you. This can be done via the "Help Center" menu of your Control Panel.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

What if we're paying for a domain name though? I mean, pretty much proves we aren't a spammer, should allow for PHP sending once our payment information is stored in your guys database.

All the paid packages that we offer have SMTP enabled which means that you will be able to send emails via your emails created in your account with us, via php mail() function and using Sendmail.

Freehostia hosting plan is cheaper than others. I think you should buy one. Tanim bought 1 year plan and I am really satisfied with their service.
