At a previous DNS configuration provider they allowed the user to add new resource records. And whatever rules you entered had your domain stuck on the end. So to facilitate the empty subdomain they used the @ symbol, and for all unmatched subdomains the * wildcard was allowed.
In the control panel here I see that adding new records isn't allowed - only changing ones for the domain (without www) and subdomains (and username.freehostia.com). I do not see a separate entry for mydomain.com and
www.mydomain.com. Am I to assume that is done automatically with a CNAME record (or identical A record)?
So I think that takes care of the @ comand. But is there a way of having using the wildcard symbol? Because that would allow custom error pages for nonexistant subdomains.
Hope that makes sense.
Thanks in advance.
