Post subject:  Koken API communication issue + Php version trouble + Theme

HI,

I was testing my website updating the theme back and forth and suddenly the site stopped working and gave me a 500 error. Found out from someone at Koken that I had to change the .htaccess file, so I did but it didn't fix the problem. So I also tried also to delete storage/cache/api and storage/cache/site. It didn't fix the problem. Then I saw Koken's Facebook page that it might be a PHP version problem. Since mine was 5.3.x, I changed it to 5.6.6... And then had a msg on a red backgroundCannot connect to the API. Error message:
Database connection failed. Make sure the database server is running and the information in storage / configuration / database.php is still correct.”So I got back to php 5.3 (I'm with iPage.com) and it started (half) working again, since now I can’t change themes anymore. When I do change, the system said it is changed but it’s not! Going back in the theme choice section shows it stayed with “Elementary” Also when I’m in the Drafts visualisation of the Site section, the site preview doesn’t show anymore (See Screenshot)Can anyone help?

Please help.

I did not find the right solution from the internet.
