I'm building a database which is going to need a fair bit of data input before it does what I want it to. My first thought was to use mysql's 'Load data infile' to read from a csv as this will be a lot quicker than inputting everything through a form but I don't seem to have the permissions to do this (I was trying to load from a file on my website). The error was a #1045 - Access Denied.

I assume this is a safety/security thing which is fair enough but is there any way I can load data from a file or will I need to input everything the slow way?

you should be able to do it with a php file just fine, although i'd recommend you password protect it

Thanks, running the load from a php script instead of the mysql admin pages and using 'load data local infile' did the trick
