Hi there,

I am currently using Drupal 5.1, but I have a problem after I installed it in my Freehostia account. Is showed me the below message,

Multibyte string input conversion in PHP is active and must be disabled. Check the php.ini mbstring.http_input setting. Please refer to the PHP mbstring documentation for more information.

I have done some research about this, someone said that we should insert the following lines in the setting php file.

ini_set('mbstring.http_input', 'pass');
ini_set('mbstring.http_output', 'pass');

However, I couldn’t success to save the changes that I had made due to it showed me “Error, Please contact the technical supportâ€

I am currently not allowed to insert the following 2 sentences in settings.php

ini_set('mbstring.http_input', 'pass');
ini_set('mbstring.http_output', 'pass');

Now, I am trying to change the setting from write-protected it (444) to 644 before I add the above 2 lines. May I know where is the 444 located? I don't find it in settings.php and other places.

Please advise.Thanks for your help.

You will need to create a custom php.ini file in the directory of your instlall.php script. The file must contains the following directives:

mbstring.http_input = pass
mbstring.http_output = pass

For the permission problem I can only advise you to open a trouble ticket via "Help Center" section of your Control Panel so we will be able to assist your further.

Thank you.
