Ive learnt allot from freehostia too, its so great.
A "trouble ticket", is when you require customer support, you generally get a faster response from freehostia staff this way.
SO, when you log in, there is a menu called "help center", and then select "open new ticket", and fill out the form.

Just to make sure, free plans cannot send emails only receive.
If on one of the premium plans, in a phpbb forum for example, you would probably set up smtp authentication using the mail server(which you can find out its name in the email manager section).
