|
|
Hello,
I'm using the free account and wondered if there was a way to get phpbb mail to work. I know SMTP is disallowed on the free account, but is there a way using either gmail or a free smtp account?
Thanks, Macmatt. |

You should have a domain hosted (add one that is already registered on your name in the Hosted Domains section of your web hosting control panel) or register one from the Domain Registration section. You can not create an email account with your free subdomain.
Also be informed that free hosting accounts are restricted to send emails due to security reasons (spam). Any scripts that send emails will not work as well and SMTP is also disabled. Email forwarding will not work either. Our paid hosting plans do not have such restriction. _________________ Best Regards,

| I have a pay account and i can not use SMTP in phpbb, i get error13 and sendmail() only works if the email is sent for the same domain to the one registered. This is crap i can not give emails to all members just so they can communicate this is the worst host ever, I pay for a service that i can not use, is bullshit. |

You have to configure your forum to use php mail() function. Sending emails using SMTP via PHP will not be possible due to the restriction set for socket connections on our servers. In order to be able to send emails from your script you will have to use only an email created in your account with us. I have to inform you that this is not bullshit at all. You will not be able to use an external email for sending emails and this is something common for shared hosting service. _________________ Best Regards,
