Hello all I am new to Freehostia.

I have created a website for a home town VFW,
back home in Columbia, PA.

I did this web site as a hobby putting my skills to work, I'm currently serving in the US Navy in Jacksonville FL.

http://www.vfwpost2435.org/

Please feel free to give constructive criticism I will take all comments into consideration, please don't hold back.
If you think it something is terrible say so.
If you think it something is great say so.
I won't be offended either way.

Thank you! :o

It's a little too plain for my liking but it's for a very good cause and it's nice, too! Overall, great Website just learn a little more code and finish the top bit some, perhaps?

I completely agree with massive_failure, I think it is a little too plain. I think using some more color and tables for formatting (using different colors for the tables and background) would make it look nicer,

Remember guys, "menard81" said (s)he was a beginner at web design and is probably busy in the U.S. Navy... It looks good, especially for your first time - and especially good if you did it fully in Notepad or another word processor program. It is still kinda plain as "massive_failure" and "DDR Central" mentioned though...add more organization, graphics, and/or colors to it..

Yeah, I'm saying once (s)he gets better that using tables would be a good idea. I'd also suggest getting Notepad++ to make the site :D

I've been using W3Schools for some time now and I must say, I've been very pleased with what I've learned. I've yet to put it to use, though. You can copy most of your code(s) and paste it in a box like this to view the output, though. Here's what I know based on reading W3Schools.

HTML (well skilled)
XHTML (well skilled)
CSS (basics)
JavaScript (basics)
DHTML (basics)
VBScript (basics)
WMLScript (little understanding)

I'd love to be more skilled in Java and WML but I just don't have the time. :(

W3Schools is what I use, too. I'm learning php with it now :D

I didn't learn JavaScript from them though :P but HTML and CSS and that stuff I thought it was really good for :D so I'd suggest that if you want to learn about web design and making sites and stuff.

Sorry I have been busy at work.

Thank you for all the great input.

I do have everything in tables already so adding color would pretty easy to set up yet too.

I use dreamweaver for all my web design when i first learned HTML i did code everything via notepad that was 6 years ago.

I learned allot from htmlgoodies.com back 6 years ago.

Any input on color design that would be pleasant on the viewer eyes.
I do have to agree it is pretty plane that one of the reasons for posting this thread to get input from others to help make it better.

Thanks again keep the comments coming

Tommy Menard

Up and running, I see! The page is fine, but Spice it up! Add a template to it to give it some color!
