at the bottom of every page, it automatically appends this code:

Code:
<p align="center" style="color:#999999;"><small>Designed by Adam Borecki</small></p>
<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" src="http://counter.fateback.com/javapro.php?user=10015"></script><noscript>
<a href="http://counter.fateback.com" target="_blank">
<img src="http://counter.fateback.com/webstatpro.php?user=10015" alt="counter" border="0"></a></noscript>

do you know what this is and why it is there? it slows my pages down a bit, and i want to know if i can get rid of it.

This is a counter that gathers information about your visitor - just the browser, resolution etc. We use this information to improve our services.

When I try to validate my website for HTML 4.01 Strict (via http://validator.w3.org/) I get reported 5 errors due to the counter:

Quote:
1) there is no attribute "LANGUAGE".
<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" src="http://counter.fatebac

2) there is no attribute "TARGET".
<a href="http://counter.fateback.com" target="_blank">

3) document type does not allow element "A" here; missing one of "P", "H1", "H2", "H3", "H4", "H5", "H6", "PRE", "DIV", "ADDRESS" start-tag.
<a href="http://counter.fateback.com" target="_blank">

4) there is no attribute "BORDER".
...php?user=10015" alt="counter" border="0"></a></noscript>

5) end tag for "NOSCRIPT" which is not finished.
...t="counter" border="0"></a></noscript>

It is okay for me that you automatically append the (invisible) counter at the bottom of my page, but could you do something about the validity of the counter or forward this to fateback.com?

We have requested the script to be made valid and we are expecting it to be fixed soon.
