Send mail using Gmail smtp server

i have a free account on freehostia and i have bough a domain.
Since the smtp is disable for free account, so is there a way to setup to send email using the google smpt server?

i have search in this forum and found this thread, but still not understand how to setup the email.

I understand you can set up your smtp server with Gmail, but not with Yahoo Mail, unless you get a paid account. Is that correct?
