I have two domains registered here and until recently they were hosted at another site which a friend was paying for.

I had the DNS set to the host site and all worked fine until the site where they were being hosted ceased to be available to me.

I have a server PC at home which is quite capable of hosting the sites in apache virtual hosts but I'm having trouble figuring out how to redirect the domain to point to my IP address.

I thought that the register/edit DNS might do it but I'm not entirely sure how that works. Does it need a DNS to be running on my PC at home? I don't have one there so maybe that isn't the answer.

How about the A filed in the DNS records section of the control panel. Does that simply redirect the domain to wherever it's pointed?

I'm a bit new to this so I don't fully understand how it all works.

Thanks
