I just installed wordpress on a Chocolate package to give it a try. It was working at first, but the second time I tried to login to the wp-admin control panel it popped up the 412 error.

I tried on an older/existing WP site hosted on Freehostia too and it did the same thing. All of the searching I've done seems to point it back to being a security option on the host.

Any suggestions? Like I said, it had been working...

Hello Brian,

The stated error message is most likely caused due to too many attempts to access the administrative page of the wordpress installation.

Mod_security firewall is blocking any IP address which is trying to access the login page after more than 10 incorrect attempts.

My suggestion would to to provide some additional time without trying to login the installation in order the IP address to be released.

Also you could test accessing the installation from a different network which as different IP address.

Further more you are able to open a support ticket from your Account by going to -> Help -> My Tickets -> Open a Support Ticket. Where our Support Department will provide you with a solution withing less than 1 hour.

Best Regards,

Thanks Michael

That is it! I tried using a VPN and it let me in. I'll be more careful typing from now on!
